How Remote Workers, Influencers and Artists will pay Tax under New Law

Nigerians working remotely for foreign companies were legally required to declare their income and pay tax in Nigeria.

Influencers and Artists will pay tax as well either an individual or corporate body.

You company might be an American company, somewhere in Europe, or anywhere in the world, and you earn a salary.

You have the responsibility to self-declare it. Because if your employer were to be in Nigeria, they will deduct and pay on your behalf.

If remote workers failed to declare their income, this would be traced through bank inflows, then taxed with associated penalties.

Same applied to social media influencers who generate income online. You are influencing online, that’s okay. You earn income, you pay tax as well.”

You have the responsibility to self-declare it otherwise your bank account will be monitored for fund movement and deemed income for tax purpose.

Artists also have the obligation to declare income from all sources of their engagements either as an individual or corporate body for tax purpose.

All income generated must be taxed.

TIN, NIN and linkage to bank accounts will play a major roles in this new order while major gateways and necessary licenses renewals will be points of checks for revenue services to mount road blocks.
